Holographic projector effect done in Unity using VFX Graph.
Unity Technologies presented a similar looking, but functionally different effect in their VFX Graph reveal presentation a couple years back, I wanted to make my own take on it.
Resolution can be adjusted to match performance constraints and voxels with a color darker than the defined threshold or alpha equal to 0 will be culled.
Effect on a mockup projection table along with a baked light source.
Holo map with image texture, in this case, a heightmap based on Mars.
The projector origin can be easily adjusted as well.
